Solo retreat in New Zealand

The short answer: Wild Forest Estate on the Kauri Coast runs a Solo Retreat — a 3-night minimum private stay in an off-grid forest space, designed around unstructured time alone in nature. NZD $450 low season, NZD $550 high season. No crisis, programme, or "reason" required.

What this retreat is — and isn't

It is not therapy, coaching, a guided programme, or a group retreat. There are no facilitated sessions, scheduled meditations, or imposed routines. You stay in a fully private space, alone, surrounded by 35 acres of native forest, for as long as you book.

What you do get:

  • A pre-arrival reflection questionnaire. Many guests say this is where the retreat actually begins.
  • An optional personal scaffold — a gentle inner map built from your own reflections, used as a soft companion rather than a schedule. Five "planks" worth honouring during your time; each described at a "poor / expected / excellent" level of engagement. You can return to it, ignore it, or carry it lightly.
  • Optional daily rhythm suggestions if you'd like some structure (walks, rest times, simple rituals). Or follow your own.
  • Post-retreat journaling invitations sent a few days after departure.
  • A "letter to your future self" — you write it before leaving; the hosts return it weeks later, when ordinary life is loud again.

Who comes

From the public testimonials: some guests come with a question, some come without knowing why, many come because the world has been loud for too long. Women travelling solo often mention feeling safe in a way they haven't felt in years.
