The 110 year old Historic Kauri Bushman's Cottage is self-contained and attached to the main house. It’s located next to a beautiful stream and surrounded by native forest.
It's a relaxing and comfortable space thoughtfully put together with 100% linen bedding / curtains / and velvet cushions. It’s perfect for a romantic getaway for two. It features a large private and covered outdoor bbq area with a Weber BBQ and luxurious daybed.
The Wild Forest Hideaway is 3km from the Trounson Kauri Park where guests often see Kiwi in the wild. Tāne Mahuta is a picturesque half hour drive north. Kai Iwi lakes and Aranga Beach are just down the road.

The Sunday School has been renovated with an eco conscious philosophy. Designed by Architect Barry Rusden in the 1980's as a Church with a modest black corrugated iron exterior houses a beautifully restored and considered interior. Original concrete floors are a perfect foil for the earthy pink and terracotta interior palette The generous spaces, high stud and large windows create a very relaxing light filled and airy atmosphere.

Like a magic carpet ride in the canopy of the forest. Enjoy the lovely setting of this romantic off the grid hut in nature. The Tree Hut is made from recycled Kauri. A 100+ year old villa was going to be torn down so we went in and rescued French doors, Kauri sarking & weatherboards and even the shower fittings. We used what we saved to make a magical space looking into the tops of the Wild Forest. With three decks, an outdoor bath and outdoor kitchen, you will feel cocooned within the forest.
